Does your supermarket's loyalty or charge card program make you more loyal to the store?
# Response Date Other comments:
Sep 17, 2009 6:40 PM There is no real value
Sep 17, 2009 6:46 PM They give 5% to community organizations - 1% of my total bill is donated to my families school.
Sep 17, 2009 6:47 PM Both major supermarkets have card program with exactly the same features
Sep 17, 2009 6:48 PM I have loyalty cards in several supermarkets
Sep 17, 2009 6:55 PM because the comparable stores all offer loyalty programs and we are members of all
Sep 17, 2009 6:55 PM I have them for all the supermarkets in the area and I just use it to get the discounts.
Sep 17, 2009 7:02 PM Actually less. I get pissed off that I have to use it to get the discounts that were conventionally avaialable before
Sep 17, 2009 7:19 PM My store's program is useless, but the store closest to my house (our emergency milk run store) has a card and no ... it doesnt make me more loyal.
Sep 17, 2009 7:31 PM own multiple cards
Sep 17, 2009 7:45 PM it's just a method to take advantage of 'card-holder special prices' -- nothing to do with loyalty
Sep 17, 2009 7:46 PM I carry one for each store that has one
Sep 17, 2009 8:01 PM Due to coupons they send for things I buy.
Sep 17, 2009 8:37 PM It makes me LESS loyal to the store if I forget to carry my card with me.
Sep 17, 2009 8:51 PM By shopping at the coop I am supporting the local community and buying products that are all natural, wholesome, and mostly organic.
Sep 17, 2009 8:54 PM But only because their card provides me with airline frequent flier miles.
Sep 17, 2009 8:57 PM Not really as the loyalty cards are everywhere.
Sep 17, 2009 10:24 PM I specifically and ONLY go to a grocery store that does NOT have a loyalty card program. I hate the concep that I'm second class if I don't have a card and get punished by having to pay higher prices. I am now also boycotting other types of stores (ie: drug) that require loyalty cards to get the best prices.
Sep 17, 2009 10:43 PM I stopped shopping at one grocery store when they implemented a program and prices immediately climbed 30%
Sep 18, 2009 8:47 AM not using the program
Sep 18, 2009 2:16 PM No - But my membership at Costco, and in frequent diner programs do!
Sep 18, 2009 2:21 PM Loyalty card coupled with location makes me shop there more frequently. It also helps reduce the price of groceries.
Sep 18, 2009 2:47 PM I will leave the store and my groceries if they won't give me the discounted price when I forget my card.
Sep 18, 2009 2:52 PM Don't understand the pay-off. Seems like I can only redeem points if I buy specific items on specific days. Poor reward structure. Don't make me figure it out.
Sep 18, 2009 5:23 PM Markets that have them require them to get the sales price; therefore we have to have a card
Sep 18, 2009 5:37 PM More frequently offering specials to members
Sep 19, 2009 12:40 AM cheaper stores get my business.
Sep 19, 2009 12:41 PM have no idea what you are talking about...
Sep 21, 2009 1:41 AM Usually the difference in price is only a few dollars, so it' snot that helpful.
Sep 21, 2009 1:16 PM No, just want to make sure I get lowest prices when I'm there
Sep 21, 2009 4:07 PM mostly because I get rewards and thus save money.
Sep 21, 2009 6:28 PM Publix agrees. Loyalty card does not equal loyalty.
Sep 22, 2009 1:41 PM No, though I do participate
Sep 23, 2009 12:58 AM although when I have a large order to fill I will sometimes consider their gas rewards in deciding which store to use
